Number of sick days falling, but UK still takes most in the world

David Frost the Ex Director-General of the British Chambers of Commerce, commented on these findings. “These figures highlight the very real cost to business and the economy of a failure to properly manage absence. What the figures highlight is a lack of effective management. This can be seen because those working in the public sector are taking an average of 11 sick days per annum‎, whilst those in the technology sector are taking less than a third of this.

The government as an employer has a responsibility to grab hold of this issue and those business owners in the private sector should be looking as to how they can mirror the best performance in other companies. To do this they need managers who are trained and data on absence that allows these managers to manage. Absence Manager provides a tool to enable this to happen”
